Capability
SEAMLESS ROLLED RINGS :
SSF produces custom seamless rolled rings on rolling mills from approximately Ø 100MM to 1200 MM in outside diameter, and weighing from 1Kg. To 300 Kg. in carbon, alloy, and stainless grades of steel. Certain grades of non-ferrous materials such as copper are also within our rolling capabilities.
In additional to plain rectangular shapes (PRS), all rolling mills are capable of producing ID/OD contour configurations
Contoured Rolled Rings :
SSF specializes in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of contoured or profiled seamless rolled rings that reduce input weight and save money on machining costs. Common near-net shapes that we offer are:
  • Single cups
  • Double-flange OD/ID
  • Shaped bearing races
  • Train tires
  • A variety of custom spherical shapes.

INSPECTION & TESTING :
SSF performs a variety of non destructive examination and destructive testing to ensure our rings meet every customer’s exacting specifications:
  • Spectra-test to verify chemistry/grade of material for each order.
  • Brinell hardness test on every furnace load of heat treated rings.
  • Non-destructive examination (NDE) such as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), dye-penetrant, and Ultra Sonic Testing (UT).
  • Mechanical Testing such as tensile tests and Charpy-impact tests are performed and verified by independent, nationally-accredited testing labs located nearby.
  • Dimensional inspection is performed utilizing Measuring Devices.

HEAT TREATING :
SSF possesses in-house heat treat facilities electric heated bell type furnace each with a capacity for 3.5 metric ton and operating 24/7 to provide quick delivery of heat-treated rings. Typical heat treat cycles include spheroidize annealing, special annealing, normalizing, and iso thermal annealing. Brinell hardness-checks are performed on each furnace batch, and complete heat treat certifications are provided with every shipment from our Metallurgy & Quality Department. Technical consultation is available from a degreed metallurgist.
MACHINING SERVICES :
SSF offers the convenience and flexibility of in-house machining services for those customers who require a semi or finish-machined product that is ready for your next operation or final assembly. In addition to machining faces or contoured shapes, SSF is equipped to offer turn-key machining through a combination of in-house machining capabilities and quality certified subcontracted sources.

Rectangular or profile as per customer’s requirement.
CLOSED DIE FORGING is the process whereby this deformation is confined within a shaped cavity in the dies to achieve a desired engineering configuration.
Open die forging involves the shaping of heated metal parts between a top die attached to a ram and a bottom die attached to a hammer anvil or press bed.
At SSF we offer a full range of in-house machining options to take your forgings to near-finished dimensions.
